How do I know if my account will be migrated?
You should have a notification in your portal alerting you to the planned migration of the Stripe account you have linked to Practice Better. This notification should mention that your Stripe account will be CLONED on September 5.
If the notification in your portal says that your Stripe account will be CONVERTED instead, please refer to this article instead.
If you use Square as your payments integration today, you won’t be part of the automatic migration on September 5. Please contact Customer Support if you use Square with your Practice Better account and want to migrate to Practice Better Payments.
Why is my Stripe account getting upgraded to a Practice Better Payments account?
Practice Better Payments is your new, fully-integrated payments solution, built to customize and enhance your payment processing experience. Practice Better Payments is powered by Stripe, which means that Stripe handles the secure processing, transmission, and storage of sensitive payment information, while we create a powerfully customized, connected, and fully integrated experience for you.
Our partnership with Stripe means that customers need to have their own Practice Better Payments account, and any transactions processed by Practice Better Payments will be separate from those processed by any other Stripe accounts you may have. This separation of accounts is essential to keeping your payment processing data compliant, safe, and secure. All new Practice Better customers will use a Practice Better Payments account for payment processing in Practice Better. Existing Practice Better customers who have Stripe linked to Practice Better are migrating to Practice Better Payments.
Practice Better Payments means we can build many new features and capabilities that wouldn’t be possible without it. And there’s no change in cost to you — your transaction rates will remain the same, as will your Practice Better subscription rate.
With Practice Better Payments, you can:
- Manage and track all your client payments in one dashboard inside your Practice Better account
- See all your revenue and reporting data — and what’s driving them — all in one place
- Give your clients more payments options like Apple and Google Pay
- Process in-person payments with the new Practice Better terminal reader
- And many more — we’re just getting started, so stay tuned!
Will my payment processing rates change after migrating to Practice Better Payments?
No. Your payment processing rates will remain the same as you currently pay with Stripe. To celebrate the launch of Practice Better Payments, you’ll enjoy a special promotional discount of 0.05% + $0.05 off your payment processing rate per online payment for the first 60 days after migration.
What will happen on September 5?
Your Stripe account will be migrated with no disruption of service to your or your clients. All your customers’ data, payment plans, cards, payment processing setups, and other details will remain intact and will be migrated for you. Neither you nor your clients will need to change, add, or update any of your payment information.
Your Stripe account will be cloned, creating a new Practice Better Payments account as a sub-account within your existing Stripe account. Your pre-existing Stripe account will remain intact.
All payment processing activity from Practice Better after the migration will be stored and recorded in your new Practice Better Payments sub-account.
Here’s an example of what you’ll see on September 5 when you log in to your Stripe account. Your dashboard will show your Practice Better sub-account and your original main Stripe account:
Why are there two different types of migration, cloned and converted?
Your migration type depends on how your current Stripe account is set up.
If your Stripe account is only linked to Practice Better, then your account will be converted into a Practice Better Payments account.
If your Stripe account links to any other platform along with Practice Better, your account will be cloned. This way, none of the other work you do with your Stripe account in other platforms will be affected. We’ll just create a new Practice Better Payments sub-account under your main Stripe account.
Will any of my payments be interrupted or affected by this migration?
No. All payment processing activity in your Practice Better account will keep working the same way before, during, and after the migration. In very few cases, we may need to verify a few additional pieces of information to validate your Practice Better Payments account. If so, we’ll notify you about the requested information in your Practice Better portal, on your Payments dashboard.
Where can I find my historical transaction data after migration?
You can find your pre-migration transaction data inside your original Stripe account on the Stripe portal.
For example, if you need to process a refund from before the migration, you would do this from your main Stripe account.
Do I need to link my new Practice Better Payments account to my accounting platform?
As a cloned account, if your Stripe account currently links to an accounting platform, you will need to link your new Practice Better Payments account to your accounting system to pull payments and transaction data from your new account.
Can I use my existing Stripe account with other platforms after migrating?
As a cloned account, Practice Better Payments will be a sub-account under your overall main Stripe account. So you’ll be able to link your main Stripe account to other platforms, as only the Practice Better sub-account will be linked to Practice Better.
Why do I have to accept Stripe’s Terms of Service again?
Since a “Practice Better Payments” sub-account is being created, Stripe requires that you agree to their Terms of Service for this specific account. There’s nothing different or new about this Terms of Service agreement. It’s the same agreement you acknowledged when you created your original Stripe account.
Who should I contact for customer support for my Practice Better Payments account?
Stripe will support you with your Practice Better Payments account, as Stripe will be handing the underlying infrastructure of your migrated account. If you have any issues with your Practice Better Payments account, please contact Stripe’s Customer Support Team.
What if I change my mind after migrating to Practice Better Payments? Can I reverse the migration process?
No. After the migration process is complete, it can't be reversed.
Can I opt out of migrating to Practice Better Payments?
Yes, you can opt out of the migration process between Aug 21-30, 2023 in your Practice Better account by visiting the Integrations page in your Practice Better portal and clicking the “opt out” button beside your Stripe integration.
What happens if I opt out?
If you opt out, you’ll keep using your old Stripe integration with Practice Better. However, we won't be supporting any updates or maintaining the old Stripe integration from now on. Any new features or enhancements to the payment processing experience will only be available to Practice Better Payments customers. Any new payments-related features that we launch will no longer be available to customers who have opted out.
If I opt out, can I opt back in after September 5?
Yes! Please contact the Practice Better Customer Support Team. We’ll be happy to help.
What is the opt-out period?
The opt-out period is August 21-30, 2023.
I still have questions. What should I do?
Please contact the Practice Better Customer Support Team with any questions about the migration to Practice Better Payments. We’ll be happy to help.
