To bill a client with a card on file, you’ll first need to create an invoice for that client.
An invoice can be created independently, linked to a booking, package, or program, or created to charge a no-show fee. Learn more.
Create an invoice from the client record
- Go to My Clients > Double-click on the Client Name.
- In the client record, select their Billing & Payments page.
- Click the Fast Action Button in the bottom-right and select Create invoice.
Create an invoice from a Booking
- Head to My Schedule > My Bookings.
- Click the 3 dots beside a booking.
- Select Create/Edit invoice from the options provided.
Add a line item to an existing invoice
To add a line item associated with a Practice Better booking, package, or program:
- Go to My Clients > Double-click on the Client Name.
- In the client record, select their Billing & Payments page.
- Click the Fast Action Button in the bottom-right and select Create invoice.
- Alternatively, if you have already created an invoice, click the Fast Action Button from the invoice editing page.
- Select to add a line item from a booking, package, or program, respectively.
Bill a client's saved payment method
- Once you’re happy with the invoice details, hit the Process button in the toolbar at the top of your page.
- Your client won't receive an email up to this point, only when the invoice payment is completed.
- You have a few options for payment at this point:
- Collecting a cash payment
- Recording a bank transfer
- Charging a new credit card
- Charging an existing credit card

Click the Pay now button. For clients with cards on file, you’ll see the option to process an existing credit card:
- Click Submit to process the payment. If successful, a receipt will be emailed to both you and your clients for record keeping.
