Conditional Flows give you the flexibility to show and hide specific questions based on a user's answer to a question in your form.
Conditional Flows can be triggered by the following questions:
- Yes/No
- Multiple Choice
- Checkboxes
- Personal Information with a Gender question
You must also add at least one question after the conditional question to set up a conditional flow.
Adding a conditional flow
Conditional flows can be added to your form in two ways, either by clicking the Show/Hide Questions button next to a question or from the Fast Action Button in the bottom-right corner:
From the Conditional Flow popup, select the trigger question:
Next, select the possible answers which control if conditional questions are shown/hidden from your client:
Select whether to show or hide conditional questions:
- If you select Show questions, the conditional questions will be hidden by default unless your client selects one of the answers selected above.
- If you select Hide questions, the conditional questions will be visible by default and hidden once your client selects one of the answers selected above.
From the Select questions and elements picklist, select all conditional questions which should be shown/hidden for this flow:
Managing Conditional Flows
Once you've added a conditional flow to your form, you will see an icon to the left of each question/element which is either a conditional flow trigger or question:
Triggers are highlighted in yellow, while conditional questions are indicated by a grey lock icon. You can modify an existing flow by clicking on the trigger question:
Or by going to the Conditional Flows tab:
The Conditional Flows tab will also give you the option to remove and reorder existing flows.
Chaining & Nesting Flows
A trigger element can also be a part of another conditional flow, allowing you to chain multiple nested conditional flows together. You can also create multiple conditional flows using the same trigger question, which may be useful for Checkboxes questions where the user can respond with multiple answers.
Keep in mind, Conditional Flows are evaluated in ascending order (first to last).
Generated PDFs and Exported Forms
Completed form PDFs and Excel exports will only contain questions which were visible to your client when they were completing their form.
