Update the credit card Practice Better charges to bill your subscription plan. This is a quick change you can make yourself from your portal, and it's separate from any payment processor you use to collect payments from your clients.

Before You Begin
You must be either the practitioner account owner or a team member with Practice Admin permissions to update the billing information for your Practice Better account. If you need Practice Admin permissions granted to your role, see Managing Roles & Permissions for Team Members →
📍 Note: This is your Practice Better subscription card, not your client payment processor.
- The billing information referenced in this guide is only for the card Practice Better charges for your own subscription. It has no connection to Practice Better Payments, the tool you use to accept payments from your own clients. Updating one does not affect the other. If you're trying to change how you get paid by clients, see Getting Started with Practice Better Payments → instead.
- Looking to update a client's card instead? For clients using the client portal, see Managing Your Payment Methods in the Client Portal →
⚠️ Important: If your account has already been deactivated for a failed subscription payment, these steps won't work.
- You won't be able to log in to reach My Subscription if your account is deactivated. Instead, use the direct payment link from your "Subscription Payment Failed" email, or the payment option on the sign-in page. See How to Pay Your Outstanding Subscription Bill → for those steps.
Updating Your Card in the Practitioner Portal
- Open your Profile menu under your name or profile image in the top corner of your portal, then click My Subscription.
- Click Change card under the Billing Information section.
- Enter all the required information and click Update.
Your updated billing information will be used to process your next subscription invoice for Practice Better.
If Your Card Update Doesn't Go Through
If your card is declined when you click Update, we're not able to see a more specific reason on our end beyond a generic decline message. Contact your card issuer directly and ask them to confirm the exact reason for the decline. They can often resolve it right away, whether it's a security hold, an outdated expiration date, or something else.
