You may need to adjust your Security & Privacy settings to enable screen sharing of your desktop and other applications on your macOS device.
Enabling Screen Sharing on macOS
- Ensure the latest Google Chrome version or Firefox is installed
- Open the System Preferences app:
- Go to the Privacy & Security settings and click on Screen & System Audio Recording.
- Use the Plus (+) button to add your browser if it is not already listed here. Toggle the switch to the right of an app to enable or disable screen recording for that app.
- You may be prompted to enter your device’s password. Click Modify Settings to finalize your changes. You may need to restart your browser for these changes to take effect. A reboot of your computer may also be required.
Re-enabling Screen Sharing after macOS Updates
If you are unable to screen share after a recent macOS update, navigate to the System Preferences app > Privacy & Security section, and then click Screen & System Audio Recording.
- Remove Google Chrome or Firefox completely by selecting it from the list and clicking the "-" (minus) button. Keep in mind that only toggling the switch next to Google Chrome or Firefox may not work.
- Click the “+” button to add your browser again to the list under Screen Recording & System Audio.
- Quit and restart your browser in order for the changes to take effect. We also recommend rebooting your Mac.
