Fine-tune the recipes in a client's meal plan by changing servings and portions, marking leftovers, swapping recipes, or removing them. Each change updates the day's nutrition totals right away.
Before You Begin
- The steps in this article require the Nutrition Planning add-on in your subscription. Find the full steps in Getting Started With Nutrition Planning β
Β - This article covers changes to the recipes inside a meal plan. To rename, duplicate, or delete a whole meal plan, see Managing a Client's Meal Plans β
Β - Swap search and suggestions follow the meal plan's preferences. Dietary preferences and exclusions leave out recipes that don't fit, and cultural preferences move matching recipes to the top. Learn more in Setting Up a Client's Meal Plan β
Β - If the nutrition plan is shared, your client sees your changes the next time they open it.Β
Opening a Meal Slot's Details
Select any filled slot to open its details panel, such as Breakfast details. The panel shows each recipe in the slot with its prep time, ingredient count, calories, carbs, fat, and protein. Use the arrows beside the day name to move through the week for the selected meal time.
Each recipe card has three icon buttons: Swap main (or Swap side), Recipe details, and Remove recipe.
Viewing Recipe Details
The Recipe details panel displays the recipe title, prep time, ingredient count, related dietary tags, and more.
- Select the Recipe details icon next to a recipe.
- Click into and review the Ingredients, Nutrition, and Directions tabs within the Recipe details panel.
Changing Servings and Portions
- Click on a meal slot to open its details panel.
- Use the + (plus) and β (minus) buttons under Servings to cook, or type a number in that field to set how many servings to prepare.
- Use the + (plus) and β (minus) buttons under Portions to eat, or type a number in that field to set how many portions your client eats.
Your changes save automatically. The day's totals update with portion changes.
π Note: Servings to cook is not editable for a recipe marked as leftover. Either clear the leftover checkbox or open the meal slot that isn't a leftover to update its servings.
Marking a Recipe as Leftover
- Click on a meal slot to open its details panel.
- Click the Mark as leftover checkbox.
The recipe shows a Leftover tag in the planner.
π Note: Servings to cook is not editable for a recipe marked as leftover. Portions to eat stays editable.
Swapping a Recipe
β οΈ Important: Swapping a recipe cannot be undone.
- Click on a meal slot to open its details panel.
Β - Click the Swap button on the recipe card, for either a main or a side.
Β - Find a replacement, using one of these methods:
- Type in the Search recipes field. Results follow the meal plan's preferences. Click on a recipe in your search results to make the swap, or click the Recipe details icon beside a recipe to review it first.
- Click the magic wand icon to swap the recipe automatically.
- Review Suggested recipes. Each suggestion shows prep time, ingredient count, calories, carbs, protein, and a dietary tag. Click on a suggested recipe to make the swap, or click the Recipe details icon beside a recipe to review it first.
Β
- If the recipe appears more than once in the meal plan, choose This recipe only or All occurrences of this recipe. Or click Cancel to stop the swap.
πͺ The automatic swap picks a recipe with similar nutrition to the one you're replacing, and one that fits the meal plan's preferences.
How Swap Suggestions Are Chosen
Suggested recipes show up to five recipes that fit the meal plan's preferences and aren't already in the meal plan.
- Recipes tagged for that meal time appear first, such as snack recipes in a snack slot. Other recipes fill any remaining spots.
- Side suggestions need both the meal time tag and a side tag, so you'll see more recipes from other meal times in side suggestions.
Removing a Recipe
- Click on a meal slot to open its details panel.
- Click the Remove recipe button (the trash icon).
The recipe is removed from the slot right away, and the day's totals update.
