The Stripe PAN Copy tool is a self-serve data copy service that allows customers with existing Stripe accounts to copy their client payment data from one Stripe account and add it to another.
This article is for new and existing Practice Better customers who have an existing Stripe account and want to consolidate all existing payers and payment data into their Practice Better Payments account to enjoy a fully integrated and supported payments experience.

Process Overview

Set up your Practice Better Payments account: This process takes 5-10 minutes, and the application is accessible through Practice Better.
If you are importing clients into Practice Better from another EHR, complete the client import before progressing to the next steps. - Use the Stripe PAN Copy tool to copy and add payer information from your existing Stripe account to your Practice Better Payments Stripe account.
- Use the Sync Client tool in the Practice Better Payments Dashboard to sync and/or create new client records in Practice Better based on information in your Practice Better Payments account.
- Review the Sync Client summary and run the tool again if required.
Information required to use the Stripe PAN copy tool
- Sender account: The Stripe account currently storing your client payment data. Client payment data will be copied from this account.
- Recipient account: An Enabled or Complete Practice Better Payments account. Client payment data will be added to this account.

Stripe Dashboard login credentials for both the sender and recipient accounts.
If you do not have access to the Stripe Dashboard associated with your Sender account, please refer to Additional FAQs about the Stripe PAN Copy Tool. - Stripe account IDs for both the sender and recipient accounts. Your account IDs can be found by going to the User settings in the Stripe Dashboard while logged into your accounts. Stripe account format, acct_####.
Copy and Add Client Payment Data with the Stripe PAN Copy Tool
- Complete the set up of your Practice Better Payments account.
Ensure that the status in the Payments Dashboard is either Enabled or Complete. - Select View in Stripe to be redirected to the Stripe Dashboard login page of your recipient Stripe account.
- Log into the Stripe account that corresponds with your Practice Better Payments account. These login credentials were created when you set up your Practice Better Payments account.
- Select Profile and then take note of your unique account number, format acct_####.
It is critical that you have the correct account number for your Practice Better Payments (recipient) account to complete step 8 of this process. - Log out of the Stripe dashboard.
- Log into your Sender Stripe account.
- Select Customers on the left-hand side of your screen.
- Click Copy.
- In the Copy Method field, click Copy all customers.
- Enter your Practice Better Payments account number captured in Step 4.
Stripe account format: acct_####, and click Continue - Click Confirm.
- At the top of your Customers page in the Stripe Dashboard, you should now see the pending copy request.
- Log out of the Stripe Dashboard for the sender account.
- Log into Practice Better and navigate to the Payments Dashboard.
- Select View in Stripe and log into the Stripe Dashboard for your Practice Better Payments account.
- Go to the Customers page to view the banner at the top advising that there is a request to share data.
- Click Authorise and Accept to initiate the copy process.

Q: Where can I view the status of the copy of my data?
A: You can view the status of the copy in progress at the top of the Customers page in the Stripe Dashboard.
Q: How quickly will my data be copied over to my Practice Better Payments account?
A: Copies of fewer than 10,000 customers will typically be completed within a few hours.
Q: What if I do not have access to the Stripe Dashboard login credentials for the sender account?
A: If you do not have access to the Stripe Dashboard login credentials for the sender account, contact your current provider and ask them to use the Stripe PAN Copy tool to make a full copy of all the payers in your existing account and send them to your new Practice Better Payments (recipient) account.
You can provide Stripe PAN Copy tool instructions to your existing platform to make a full copy of your payers and send them to your new Practice Better Payments (recipient) account.
To complete the copy and transfer, your existing platform will need your new Practice Better Payments account number, which you can retrieve by following step 4 of this Practice Better support article.
Q: I have funds in my sender Stripe Connect account, where will these go?
A: Any funds in your Stripe account will be paid out according to your existing payout schedule with Stripe.
Q: When will I receive my first payout from my new Practice Better Payments account?
A: You will receive deposits for available funds every business day, for transactions captured 2-3 days earlier. Learn more about Stripe’s payout schedule.
Q: Will my sender Stripe Connect account be closed automatically when I move the payment data to my Practice Better Payments account?
A: No, your sender Stripe Connect account will remain open until you request its closure.
