The steps below will help customers with an existing Stripe standard account linked to Practice Better seamlessly transition to Practice Better Payments.
⚠️ Please be sure you have time to complete these steps consecutively to avoid any payment disruptions.

Migrate your Stripe (standard) account to Practice Better Payments
If you are unable to complete all the steps below, one after another, you can temporarily relink your existing Stripe account to Practice Better either after completing your Practice Better Payments application (Step 3 below) or after copying all payment information from your existing Stripe account and adding it to your new Practice Better Payments account (Step 5 below).
You can't relink to your existing Stripe account while the Sync Client process is occurring.
📍 Note: While Practice Better Payments does not currently support Stripe Capital, you can still make payments toward your outstanding Stripe Capital balance using your Practice Better Payments account balance. Learn more.
When you are ready to relink to Practice Better Payments, first Unlink Stripe and then select Enable next to Practice Better Payments.
To begin migrating your payments account:

Go to your Settings > Integrations page.
- Click Unlink next to Stripe.
- Select Set Up next to Practice Better Payments and complete your application.

After completing your Practice Better Payments application, go to the Payments Dashboard through the Settings (gear icon) at the top right of your Practice Better portal.
Ensure the status of your Practice Better Payments account is Enabled or Completed📍Note: if it is any other status, you must wait for Stripe to verify your new account and mark it Enabled or Completed.
- Once your new Practice Better Payments account status is in good standing, you will need to copy all payment information from your existing Stripe account and add it to your new Practice Better Payments account.

Copy and Add Client Payment Data with the Stripe PAN Copy Tool
The Stripe PAN Copy tool is a self-serve data copy service that allows customers with existing Stripe accounts to copy their client payment data from one Stripe account and add it to another.
- Ensure that the status in the Payments Dashboard is either Enabled or Complete.
- Select View in Stripe to be redirected to the Stripe Dashboard login page of your recipient Stripe account.

Log into the Stripe account that corresponds with your Practice Better Payments account. These login credentials were created when you set up your Practice Better Payments account.

Go to your Settings > Business > Account Details and copy your unique account number, formatted as acct_####.
⚠️ It is critical that you have the correct account number for your Practice Better Payments (recipient) account to complete subsequent steps of this process.

Log out of the Stripe dashboard.

Log into your Sender Stripe account.
- Select Customers on the left-hand side of your screen.
- Click Copy.
- In the Copy Method field, click Copy all customers.
- Enter your Practice Better Payments account number captured in Step 4, and click Continue
Stripe account format: acct_####
- Click Confirm.
- At the top of your Customers page in the Stripe Dashboard, you should now see the pending copy request.

Log out of the Stripe Dashboard for the sender account.

Log into Practice Better and navigate to the Payments Dashboard.
- Select View in Stripe and log into the Stripe Dashboard for your Practice Better Payments account.
- Go to the Customers page to view the banner at the top that indicates a request to share data.
- Click Authorise and Accept to initiate the copy process.
Once customer data has been copied from your sender Stripe account to your Practice Better Payments Stripe account, review the copied client data.
⚠️ Verify and update clients' first and last names and emails in your receiving Stripe dashboard to exactly match corresponding client profiles in your Practice Better portal client list.
If the names and emails don't exactly match between Stripe and your Practice Better client list, new client profiles may be created with the payment information saved under the new client.
You can merge clients in Practice Better if this happens.
Initiate the Practice Better Client Sync tool
Please ensure you have completed the above steps before proceeding.
Next, it is time to match the billing information in Practice Better Payments (Stripe) to your Practice Better client records. Learn more about Practice Better Payments Sync Client Tool →
- Go to Settings > Payments Dashboard > Sync Clients tab and click the Start Sync button. Learn more about this feature.
- When you select the Start sync option, you will be presented with a dialogue box asking if you want to Add new clients when no matches exist.
- Select this option to add new clients to Practice Better if we can't find a match based on name and email address.
- ⚠️ Verify and update clients' first and last names and emails in your Stripe dashboard to exactly match corresponding client profiles in your Practice Better portal client list. If the names and emails don't exactly match between Stripe and your Practice Better client list when you sync, new client profiles may be created with the payment information saved under the new client.
You can merge clients in Practice Better if this happens.
- Select this option to add new clients to Practice Better if we can't find a match based on name and email address.
- Once this sync process is complete, you will receive an email notification that looks like this:
- Review the Sync Client summary from the Sync Clients tab.
