Our current fax provider is discontinuing fax services and our new fax provider will not be able to support dedicated fax numbers outside of the United States and Canada.
You have a few options available to you for your faxing needs moving forward.
- Use a US-based fax number within Practice Better
- Transfer your current non-US/CA fax number to a new fax provider
- Sign up for a new fax number with a new fax provider
When is the last date I can use my current fax number?
After December 4, 2021 Practice Better will only be able to support dedicated fax numbers with US and Canadian area codes. This also means that the final date that you will be able to receive faxes with your current fax number within Practice Better will be December 4, 2021.
After December 4, 2021 will fax senders be alerted that my previous fax number is no longer valid?
If no one else has taken that old fax number, and you have not ported it to a new fax provider, the sender will receive a message saying that the fax has failed as the number is no longer in use.
Setting Up a US-based Fax Number
How much does a dedicated US fax number cost?
A dedicated fax number is included in your subscription to the Plus and Team plans so there is no additional fee.
Are there fees for sending faxes outside of the US?
You will not be charged fees for faxes you send internationally. Keep in mind, senders may need to pay international fees for sending faxes to your Practice Better US fax number.
Can I choose my new number?
Yes, you can follow this guide to set up and choose your new fax number with a US or Canadian area code.
Will Practice Better be offering international fax numbers in the future?
Our team is working to identify a provider who can support dedicated international fax numbers in the future.
Porting Your Fax Number to a New Fax Provider
Can I transfer my Fax number to a new provider?
Yes. You'll need to contact your new fax provider to initiate the transfer of your fax number from Practice Better. We recommended starting this process 4 weeks prior to the December 4, 2021 deadline.
Will there be any downtime during the transfer process?
Once the transfer/porting process is approved, there will be a transition period where your number will be unavailable to send/receive faxes. This transition period may be from 1-3 business days.
