Let more than one client book the same one-on-one time slot by turning on double-booking for a service. This article shows you how to enable the setting, set up availability for it, and cap how many clients can book.
Before You Begin
-
Each client gets a separate session. Double-booking works on a one-on-one service. Clients who book the same time slot each get their own session at overlapping times.

- No cap by default. With double-booking turned on and no session limits set, there is no cap on how many clients can book the same slot. Set a session limit separately to control capacity.
Enabling Double-booking for a Service
- Go to My Practice > My Services.
- Click Edit next to the one-on-one service you want to double-book.
- Under the Booking Options section, turn on Allow multiple clients to book this service during the same time slot.
- Click Save Changes near the top-right.
📍 Note: Turning on this setting does not change your calendar. Clients can book the same slot only after you set up availability for the service in the next section.
Setting Up Exclusive Availability for a Double-booked Service
Create a time slot that offers only your double-booking service.
- Go to My Schedule > My Availability.
- Click the Fast Action Button > Add Slot, or click and drag a time range on the calendar.
- Choose one-on-one service availability.
- Under Service Availability, select your double-booking service. Do not select any other service for this time slot.
- Set the start time, end time, and date, and turn on This time slot recurs if the slot repeats.
- Click Save in the availability pop-up.

📍 Note: Keep the time slot exclusive to this service. When a client books a different service in the same availability time, that booking takes the slot and blocks the double-booking service from showing as available.
Limiting How Many Clients Can Book a Time Slot
Session limits control how many sessions clients can request in a given hour, day, week, or month. Use them to match your capacity.
- Go to My Schedule > Booking & Cancellation Settings.
- Scroll to Session Limits and check Enable session limits per service. The Add Session Limit pop-up opens.
- Enter a Label for the limit, such as "Group Intro 4 per hour".
- Under Select services, choose your double-booking service.
- Enter a value under Per hour, Per day, Per week, or Per month. You can enter any combination.
- Click Done, then click Save Changes at the top of the page.
-
Self-booked sessions only: Session limits apply when clients book themselves. They do not apply when you book a session for a client from your portal.
-
Per service: When you select more than one service, the limit applies to each service on its own, not as a shared total.
-
Requests count: Both confirmed sessions and pending session requests count toward your limits.
- Per-hour limits: A per-hour limit counts sessions by the hour they start in, not across any 60-minute window.

How Double-booked Sessions Work
-
Booking methods: Double-booking applies when clients book themselves through your Bookings Page, a custom Bookings Page, a package, or a program.
-
Reviewing and confirming requests: Reviewing and confirming a booking request works the same as for any other booking request. When other events are scheduled for the same slot, a booking conflict message appears as a precaution. Click Book anyway to confirm the request.
-
Booking a session for a client: When you schedule a session for a client at a time that overlaps another session, the session details dialog shows a conflict warning. Click Schedule with conflicts to continue. You can book over a full slot at any time.
- Telehealth sessions: Each double-booked telehealth session gets its own video link. The sessions are completely separate and only overlap in time.
Understanding What Double-booking Does Not Cover
Double-booking applies to one service at a time. It does not currently support booking different services at the same time, such as different session types in separate rooms. If you need that, we're happy to hear about it. Email help@practicebetter.io from the address on your account and share what you're trying to set up.
