Pay for Invoices in the Client Portal
If you have access to the Client Portal, you'll find multiple easy pathways to your invoices.
The quickest way is to click on and invoice from your home dashboard in the Pending Invoices widget displayed there.
Alternatively, navigate to My Resources > Invoices & Billing and select Pay Now on the invoice you'd like to pay.
📍 Note: Don't have access to the Client Portal yet? No problem. You can still pay your invoice using the Pay Now link in your invoice notification email, or contact your practitioner to get your portal access set up.
Before finalizing your payment, take a moment to review your invoice's details to ensure everything looks correct.
Once you've reviewed the information, click Pay Now on this page.
Entering Your Payment Information
Practice Better Payments accepts credit cards and bank debits for payment processing. Major credit card brands are accepted, including international cards, and foreign currencies can be processed in most cases. Currency exchanges may occur based on your practitioner’s currency settings and your settlement currency. In most cases, you can also use your HSA or FSA card — if your payment doesn't go through with one of these cards, reach out to your practitioner for assistance .
You'll enter your payment details on the secure payment page. Practice Better gives you the option to store your card securely for future payments, making your next transaction even faster. If you've already saved a card, simply select it and skip the manual entry step entirely. Whether your practitioner has enabled the option to remove saved cards from your account depends on their settings — if you need to update or remove a stored card, contact your practitioner.
📍 Note: Your payment information is protected with industry-standard security measures. Learn more about how your data is secured in the Security section of the Practice Better Payments FAQ.
Click Submit when you're ready, and your payment will be processed almost immediately. You'll receive a live confirmation once the payment goes through successfully. If your payment is declined, contact your bank or card issuer for more information about why the transaction didn't process.
After your payment is complete, your paid invoice serves as your receipt. You can view your payment history and access all past invoices anytime by navigating to My Resources > Invoices & Billing in your Client Portal.
Pay for Invoices Directly from Your Email
You can also streamline your payment process by paying directly from the invoice notification email your practitioner sends you.
Simply select the Pay Invoice button in the email.
If your Client Portal account is already activated, this link will take you to the login page where you can sign in and complete your payment. If your Client Portal account isn't activated yet, the link will open directly to a payment page where you can pay without logging in.
Once you're on the payment page, you can follow the same straightforward process: review your invoice details, enter your payment information, and complete the payment.
📍 Note: If the email link has expired or doesn't work, contact your practitioner for a new invoice or payment link.
Make a Partial Payment on an Invoice
If your practitioner has enabled partial payments for your invoice, you'll have additional flexibility in how you manage your payment.
After clicking the Pay Now button, you'll be given the option to make an initial payment that is part of the whole amount or pay your invoice in full. With the partial payment option, a single invoice can be split into two payments. The minimum payment amount will depend on the settings your practitioner has configured for your invoice.
Once you've selected your payment amount, enter your payment details and click Submit. You won't be charged any interest or late fees on partial payments.
You can return later to pay the remaining balance with the same card or a different one. To access the invoice again, simply go back to My Resources > Invoices & Billing within the Client Portal, or return to the invoice notification email.
💡 Tip: If you have questions about payment deadlines for your remaining balance, payment plan options, or scheduling a future payment date, reach out to your practitioner to discuss what works best for your situation.
