Life happens — and when it does, Practice Better makes it easy to cancel or reschedule your upcoming session directly from your Client Portal or booking confirmation email, without needing to contact your practitioner directly.

Canceling Your Appointment
To cancel a session, you'll first need to navigate to the Session Details page. There are three ways to get there.
Getting to Your Session Details Page
Path 1: From your home page, click on the session title in the Upcoming Sessions widget.
Path 2: In the top navigation, click My Resources > Bookings, then click View details next to your session.
Path 3: Click Bookings in the left-hand navigation menu, then click View details next to your session.
Canceling from the Session Details Page
- Once on the Session Details page, click Cancel session.
- A prompt will appear asking for the reason for your cancellation. This field is required. Enter your reason and click Cancel session to confirm.
📍 Note: If your practitioner has set a cancellation policy, it will be displayed on this screen before you confirm. Please review it carefully, as late cancellations may be subject to a fee.
Once your cancellation is submitted, you'll receive a confirmation email, and your practitioner will be notified. If your session was part of a package, your session credit will automatically be returned to your package.
Rescheduling Your Appointment
To reschedule a session, you'll also need to go to the Session Details page first. Use any of the three paths described above in the Canceling section, then follow the steps below.
Rescheduling from the Session Details Page
- Once on the Session Details page, click Reschedule.
- Select your preferred session format, then choose a new date and available time from the calendar.
- Enter a reason for rescheduling (required), then click Reschedule to confirm.
- After rescheduling, you'll receive a confirmation email with your updated session details. Your practitioner will also be notified of the change.
📍 Note: If no available times are showing for your preferred date, your practitioner's schedule may be fully booked. If you're unable to find a suitable time, reach out to your practitioner directly so they can assist you.
Canceling or Rescheduling via Your Confirmation Email
You can also reschedule directly from your booking confirmation or session reminder email — no need to log into the Client Portal first. This option is available for all session types.
- Open your booking confirmation or session reminder email from your practitioner.
- Click the Need to reschedule? Link.
- This will open the rescheduling page, where you can select a new date, time, and reason, or click the Cancel Session button.
- Click the Reschedule button at the bottom of the page to confirm.
Understanding Your Practitioner's Cancellation Policy
Your practitioner may have a cancellation policy in place that affects how and when you can cancel or reschedule. Here's what to keep in mind:
- Time restrictions: Your practitioner may limit how close to the appointment time you can cancel or reschedule — for example, no changes within 24 hours of the session. If this restriction applies, the cancel or reschedule options may not be available.
- Cancellation fees: If you cancel within the restricted window, a cancellation fee may apply. Any applicable policy will be displayed on the cancellation or reschedule screen before you confirm.
- Package credits: If your session is part of a package, your session credit will be automatically returned to your package upon cancellation.
⚠️ Important: If you do not see the option to cancel or reschedule your session, your practitioner may have restricted this ability. Please contact your practitioner directly to request changes to your appointment.
