Step 1: Unlink and Relink Your Google Calendar
If something in your sync has stopped working, the fastest first step is to disconnect and reconnect the integration. This refreshes the connection and resolves many common sync issues.
- Go to Settings & Preferences > 3rd Party Integrations.
- Click Unlink next to Google Calendar.
- Click Link next to Google Calendar and follow the prompts to reconnect.
⚠️ Important: Unlinking removes all Google Calendar events from your Practice Better calendar and removes all Practice Better events from your Google Calendar. Events will repopulate after you relink and your settings are saved.
Step 2: Confirm the Correct Calendar Is Connected
If you have multiple Google calendars associated with your account, it's possible the wrong one is selected. To check:
- Go to Settings & Preferences > 3rd Party Integrations.
- Click the Gear icon next to Google Calendar.
- Under Integrate with My Calendar, confirm the correct calendar is checked.
Step 3: Confirm Sync Is Enabled
If your calendar is linked but sessions aren't appearing in Google Calendar, the sync option may not be turned on.
- Go to Settings & Preferences > 3rd Party Integrations.
- Click the Gear icon next to Google Calendar.
- Under Sync to Google Calendar, confirm that Sync events to my Google Calendar is checked.
- Confirm the correct destination calendar is selected in the dropdown menu.
- Confirm that the specific event types you expect to see (sessions, tasks, personal events, etc.) are also checked.
📍 Note: Session requests are not synced to Google Calendar until you confirm them.
Step 4: Check That Google Calendar Events Are Marked as Free
Google Calendar events marked as "Busy" will block your availability in Practice Better when the calendars are synced. If clients are seeing you as unavailable during times you expect to be free, the events in question may be set to "Busy."
To change an event's status in Google Calendar:
- Click the event in Google Calendar.
- Click the pencil icon to edit the event.
- In the availability dropdown, change the status from Busy to Free.
Step 5: Exclude All-Day Events from Affecting Your Availability
All-day events in Google Calendar, such as holidays or pay days, default to "Busy" and can block entire days of your Practice Better availability. To prevent this:
- Go to My Schedule > Booking & Cancellation Settings.
- Under Advanced Availability Options, check Exclude external calendar all-day events.
- Click Save Changes at the top of the page.
Step 6: Check Your Display Options in Practice Better
If synced events aren't appearing in your Practice Better calendar view, they may simply be hidden in your display settings.
- Go to My Schedule > My Calendar.
- In the Display options panel in the bottom left, confirm that External calendar and any other relevant items are checked.
