Practice Better creates your Zoom meetings through your linked Zoom account. When that connection drops, a red banner appears on your Integrations page, and new sessions may be booked without Zoom links until you unlink and relink Zoom. This article walks you through reconnecting in a few clicks and restoring links for sessions that are missing one.

Before You Begin
-
Plan availability: The Zoom integration is available on the Starter, Professional, Plus, and Team plans. It is not available on the free Sprout plan. Starter plan accounts can host one-on-one Zoom sessions only; group Zoom sessions require the Professional plan or higher. For a full comparison, see Practice Better Versus Zoom for Telehealth →
- The right Zoom account: Practice Better creates your Zoom meetings under the account you link. Before you start, sign in at zoom.us to the Zoom account you want to host your sessions.
Recognizing When You Need to Reconnect Zoom
Sometimes Practice Better is unable to connect to your Zoom account to create or update meetings on your behalf.
When this happens:
- A red banner appears at the top of your Integrations page.
- We send you a notification by email and in your portal asking you to reconnect.
- Newly booked sessions do not receive Zoom links until you reconnect.
The fix is to unlink and relink your Zoom account. It takes about a minute, and you won't lose your sessions or settings.
Reconnecting Your Zoom Account
- Go to zoom.us and sign in to the Zoom account you want to link.
- In your Practice Better account, go to Settings (gear icon) > 3rd Party Integrations and locate Zoom.
- Click Unlink next to Zoom.
- Click Link next to Zoom.
- Enter your Zoom email address and password if prompted, then click Authorize to let Practice Better create and manage meetings on your behalf.
✅ All set. Your Zoom account is linked again, and Practice Better creates Zoom links for every newly booked session.
Restoring Zoom Links for Previously Booked Sessions
Sessions that already have a Zoom link keep that same link, and it remains valid after you reconnect. Sessions booked while Zoom was disconnected may be missing a link. You can add one without changing the date or time.
- Go to My Schedule > My Bookings.
- Click Reschedule next to the session that is missing a Zoom link.
- Ensure the telehealth application is set to Zoom.
- Leave the date and time as they are, then click Update in the popup.
📍 Note: Your client receives a notification about the update as long as the notification checkbox in the popup stays selected.
Fixing Errors After Reconnecting Zoom
If you still see an error after relinking, or the Link step does not complete, try these steps in order:
- Clear your browser's cache and cookies.
- Open Practice Better in an incognito or private browser window and repeat the unlink and link steps.
- Try a different browser. See Browser and Mobile App Compatibility →

How Reconnecting Zoom Relates to Other Settings
Reconnecting Zoom fixes one thing: Practice Better's ability to create and update Zoom meetings. Here is what stays the same.
Practice Better Telehealth
Reconnecting or unlinking Zoom does not affect sessions held on Practice Better Telehealth. The two are separate options. See Practice Better Versus Zoom for Telehealth →
Recording and the AI Charting Assistant
Reconnecting Zoom does not turn on recording. Recording is controlled by your Zoom settings, and a transcript and summary inside Practice Better also require the AI Charting Assistant add-on. See Using the AI Charting Assistant for Telehealth →
Zoom Security Settings
Settings such as the waiting room and meeting passcodes live in your Zoom account, not in Practice Better, so reconnecting does not change them. See Zoom Security & Privacy Settings →
Existing Bookings
Right after you reconnect, new bookings receive Zoom links automatically. Sessions that were booked without a link stay without one until you use Reschedule > Update, as described above.
