Understanding Personalized URLs (Subdomains)
β¨ Available on: Plus Plan and above
A personalized URL uses a custom subdomain that makes Practice Better feel like an extension of your brand. Instead of logging in at βmy.practicebetter.io,β you and your clients access the portal at your own unique address, like βyourpractice.practicebetter.io.β
In this example:
- my or yourpractice = your subdomain (the customizable part)
- practicebetter = the second-level domain (Practice Better's root domain)
- .io = the top-level domain
Your subdomain is where your custom branding appears in a web browser, creating a professional, cohesive experience for everyone who visits your portal. On Plus and Team plans, your branding also carries into the Practice Better mobile app. The app does not use a subdomain, so it needs no extra setup. Learn more about Branding in the Mobile App β
Why Your Branding Might Not Be Showing
If you've set up a personalized URL or uploaded your logo but aren't seeing your custom branding, here's what's likely happening and how to resolve it.
You're Not Using Your Personalized Subdomain
What you're seeing: Standard Practice Better branding instead of your custom logo and colors
Why this happens: In a web browser, custom branding only appears when you access Practice Better through your personalized subdomain (like yourpractice.practicebetter.io), not through the primary domain at my.practicebetter.io.
How to see your branding:
- Make sure you're logging in through your personalized subdomain, not my.practicebetter.io.
Β - Find your exact personalized subdomain by going to Settings > Personalized URL in your account.
Β - Bookmark your personalized subdomain for easy access in the future.
π Note: All emails sent to your clients automatically redirect them to your personalized subdomain, so they'll always see your custom branding when accessing the portal through email links.
Your Branding Isn't Showing in the Mobile App
What you're seeing: The standard Practice Better colors and logo in the mobile app.
Why this happens: Mobile app branding is available on Plus and Team plans, and it appears after you sign in. The sign-in screen always shows Practice Better branding.
How to check:
- Click your name in the top corner of your portal, then go to My Subscription to confirm you're on a Plus or Team plan.
- Sign in to the Practice Better mobile app. Your branding does not appear on the sign-in screen.
- Go to Settings > Logo & Branding and confirm your logo and brand colors are saved.
π Note: If you have not saved a logo or brand colors, the app shows standard Practice Better branding.

You're Seeing Someone Else's Branding
What you're seeing: A logo or brand colors that aren't yours
Why this happens: Each practitioner in Practice Better has their own personalized subdomain with their own custom branding. When you log in through a specific subdomain (like practitioner1.practicebetter.io), you'll see that practitioner's branding.
If you're a practitioner:
- Make sure you're logging in using your own personalized subdomain, not another practitioner's subdomain.
Β - Check your personalized subdomain in Settings > Personalized URL.
If you're a client working with multiple practitioners:
This is expected behavior. You'll see different branding depending on which practitioner's subdomain you're accessing. Each practitioner customizes their own portal experience to reflect their unique practice.
You Haven't Set Up Your Personalized URL or Branding Yet
What you need to know: Personalized subdomains and custom branding are available on the Plus Plan and above. Even if you have a Plus Plan, you need to configure both your personalized URL and upload your branding assets.
Next steps:
- Set up your personalized subdomain in Settings > Personalized URL.
Β - Upload your logo and brand colors in Settings > Logo & Branding.
Β - If you're on a plan below Plus, consider upgrading to access these features.
Setting Up Your Personalized URL
β¨ Available on: Plus Plan and above
A personalized URL with your own custom subdomain (such as mypractice.practicebetter.io) adds an extra touch of professionalism to your practice and makes Practice Better feel like a natural extension of your existing website. When clients access your portal through this subdomain, they experience your brand from the moment they log in.
π‘ Tip: Choose a subdomain that matches your practice name or website for maximum brand consistency. Keep it short and memorable so clients can easily type it if needed.
Configuring Your Personalized URL
Your personalized subdomain defaults to the company name you entered when you signed up for Practice Better. This name appears in the subdomain field on every plan, but you can only update it on the Plus and Team plans.
- Go to Settings > Personalized URL.
Β - Choose your desired subdomain name (this will become yourname.practicebetter.io).

Save Changes near the top-right.
Β
π Please note: Once you set your personalized subdomain, all emails sent to clients will automatically redirect them to your personalized Client Portal URL, ensuring they always see your custom branding.
Uploading Your Logo and Brand Colors
After setting up your personalized subdomain, the next step is to upload your visual branding assets. Your logo and brand colors create instant recognition and reinforce your professional identity throughout the portal experience.
π‘ Tip: For best results, upload a high-quality PNG file with a transparent background. This ensures your logo looks professional on any background color.
Setting Your Brand Colors
Your brand colors are used as the email background for all client communications (Plus and Team plans), throughout the portal when accessed through your personalized subdomain, and in the Practice Better mobile app after sign-in. You can set a primary and a secondary color.
π‘ Tip: Choose brand colors that provide good contrast with white text. Text on branded areas of emails, the portal, and the mobile app is white, so very light colors make it hard to read.
To set up your brand colors:

- Type in the field to specify the Hex code of your desired color.

Adding a Custom Favicon
β¨ Available on: Plus and Team Plans
Your favicon is the small icon that appears in the browser tab when someone visits your personalized subdomain. It's a subtle but powerful branding element that reinforces your professional identity and helps clients quickly identify your portal among multiple open tabs.
π‘ Tip: Favicons appear in the top-left corner of the browser tab when you and your clients visit your personalized subdomain. Use a simple, recognizable icon that represents your brand β think of it as a mini version of your logo or a distinctive symbol associated with your practice.

Q: Why don't I see my logo or brand colors when I log in?
A: In a web browser, make sure you're accessing Practice Better through your personalized subdomain (yourpractice.practicebetter.io), not through my.practicebetter.io. In the mobile app, branding appears after you sign in on Plus and Team plans. See Your Branding Isn't Showing in the Mobile App for steps.
Q: Can my clients see my branding?
A: Yes. When clients access the portal through links in emails you send them, they're automatically directed to your personalized subdomain and will see your logo and brand colors. Clients who use the mobile app see your branding after they sign in, with no subdomain needed. You can also share your personalized subdomain directly with clients.
Q: What if my clients log in by typing my.practicebetter.io directly?
A: If clients go to my.practicebetter.io and log in there, they won't see your custom branding. To ensure they always see your branding, share your personalized subdomain with them directly and encourage them to bookmark it. You might even include your personalized subdomain in your email signature or welcome materials.
Q: Can I change my personalized URL after I set it up?
A: Yes, you can update your personalized subdomain anytime in Settings > Personalized URL. Keep in mind that if you change it, any bookmarks or saved links (yours or your clients') will need to be updated to the new subdomain, otherwise they will be auto-redirected to Practice Betterβs default subdomain (my.practicebetter.io).
Q: Will my clients automatically use my personalized subdomain?
A: Yes, when they click a link from a Practice Better email notification. All emails sent from Practice Better to your clients include links that redirect them to your personalized subdomain, so they'll see your branding without any extra steps on their part.
Q: Can I have multiple personalized URLs for different parts of my practice?
A: Each Practice Better account has one personalized subdomain. We are not able to accommodate multiple subdomains per account.
Q: What file format should I use for my logo and favicon?
A: We recommend uploading high-quality PNG files with transparent backgrounds for the best results. This ensures your logo looks crisp and professional on any background color.
Q: Can I use different logos for emails vs. PDFs?
A: Currently, the same logo is used across your portal, emails, and PDFs. If you need different logo treatments for different contexts, consider uploading a versatile logo that works well in various applications.
Q: My favicon isn't showing up. What should I do?
A: After uploading and saving your favicon, make sure to reload your browser page. Favicons are cached by browsers, so you may need to clear your browser cache or try a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows, Cmd+Shift+R on Mac) to see the change.
Q: Will my branding appear for team members?
A: Yes. When team members access Practice Better through your personalized subdomain, they'll see your custom branding in the Practitioner Portal. Practitioners who sign in to the mobile app also see your branding.
Q: Why does my personalized subdomain matter for my practice?
A: Your personalized subdomain reinforces your brand identity and creates a seamless experience between your website and your Practice Better portal. Clients feel more confident when they see consistent branding, and it signals professionalism and attention to detail. It also helps establish Practice Better as a natural extension of your practice rather than a third-party tool.
Q: Do I need to set up my personalized URL before uploading my logo?
A: You can upload your logo and brand colors anytime. In a web browser, they only display when accessed through your personalized subdomain, so we recommend setting up your personalized URL first. In the mobile app, they display after sign-in whether or not you've set up a personalized URL.
Q: Do I need to set anything up for my branding to appear in the mobile app?
A: No. The app uses the logo and colors saved in Settings > Logo & Branding. You do not need a personalized URL.
Q: Does the mobile app sign-in screen show my branding?
A: No. The sign-in screen, the app icon on your device's home screen, the splash screen, and the app name keep Practice Better branding. Your logo and brand colors appear after you sign in.
