Before You Begin
Your login email is the email address you use to sign in. It's separate from a few other emails tied to your account, so keep the following in mind before you start.
-
If you're a client with more than one practitioner: this update applies to your one shared login, so it updates everywhere you're signed in at once. If you currently use two different emails to sign in to two different practitioners' portals and want to combine them under a single login, this flow can't do that for you and will return an "already taken" error instead. -
If you're a client: updating your login email here doesn't update the contact email your practitioner has on file for you in your Client Record. Click the checkbox in the update email pop-up to let your practitioner know your new email address so they can update their records to match it.
-
If you sign in with Google, Apple ID, or a passkey: you're in the right place. Your Practice Better login email doesn't need to match your Google or Apple ID email, and this is still the correct flow for updating it.
- If you're on a Team plan: each team member updates their own login email from their own profile, following the same steps below. Team owners and admins can't update this on behalf of another team member; that request has to come from the team member's own account or through our support team.
Updating Your Login Email Address on Web
- Go to your Profile menu under your profile image and select Edit Profile or My Profile.
- On your My Profile page, click Update Email Address below your current email address. You can also get here by going to All Settings & Preferences and clicking Update Email Address.
- Enter your new email address in the pop-up and click Update. If you change your mind at this step, click Never Mind to close the pop-up without saving anything.
- Review the confirmation message to double-check the spelling of your new email address, then click Confirm.
- Check your current email inbox (not the new one) for a verification code, then enter that code in the pop-up. Click Resend code in the pop-up if you didn’t receive the code.
- After entering the verification code, click Got It to finish.
✅ You're all set. Your new email address is now your Practice Better login, effective immediately.
Updating Your Login Email Address on the Mobile App
- Open the Practice Better mobile app and tap the hamburger menu.
- Tap your profile image in the top corner to open your Profile page.
- Tap Update Email and follow the same prompts described above.
Troubleshooting Your Email Update
"This Email Address Is Already Taken"
This means your desired email is already tied to another account, whether that's a different client, admin, or practitioner record. This isn't something you can resolve yourself from your profile. Contact our support team → and we'll help sort out which account is holding that email.
I Can't Access My Current Email Address
Your verification code goes to your current email address, so you'll need access to that inbox to complete this update on your own. If you've lost access to it, contact our support team →. We'll verify your identity another way and update the email on your behalf.
I Didn't Receive My Verification Code
Check your spam or junk folder first. If it's still not there, click Resend Code on the verification pop-up. If you're still stuck after that, contact our support team →
