Capture session notes while you're with your client, whether you're meeting in Practice Better Telehealth or on Zoom. Use Quick Notes from the telehealth screen or the Client Hub, a floating window, or the AI Charting Assistant to keep your attention on your client.

Before You Begin
- Quick Notes are initiated from the Client Hub, which is available within your telehealth screen and your Practice Better portal.
- A Quick Note is a session note. It's saved to your client's Notes section and stays editable until you sign it.
- A Quick Note isn't linked to the scheduled session automatically. You can easily link the note to the session afterward.
- The Client Hub is available in sessions held in Practice Better Telehealth. For Zoom sessions, open Practice Better in a separate browser tab or window (see the Zoom section below).
- The AI Charting Assistant creates notes from a recorded session. It doesn't take notes live within your telehealth session.
Taking Notes in a Practice Better Telehealth Session
Writing a Quick Note From the Telehealth Screen
The Quick Notes button is the fastest way to start a note without leaving your video session.
- During your session, click the Quick Notes button in the top-right of the telehealth screen.
- Choose a note template from your list, or search for one using the search bar.
- To start a blank note, click Create new.
- Enter a title and your session notes.
- Click Save.
You can keep editing your note until you sign it. Find your note in your client's Notes History, or open the Notes section of your client's Client Hub.
📍 Note: Quick Notes are saved as session notes in your client's file. They aren't linked to the scheduled session automatically. You can easily link the note to the session afterward.
Writing a Quick Note From the Client Hub
You can start a Note from the Client Hub, either inside of a telehealth session or any time you open a Client Hub in your Practice Better portal.
Within a telehealth session:
- During your session, click the Client Hub icon in the top-right corner of the video chat screen.
- Click the Quick Notes button in the bottom-right corner of the Client Hub.
- Choose a note template from your list, or click Create new for a blank note.
- Enter a title and your session notes.
- Click Save.
Editing an Existing Note With Picture-in-Picture
To access the full Note editing page, or to edit a note you've already started, use Picture-in-Picture. It shows your client in a floating window while you work in another browser tab, so you can open the note without leaving the call. You can edit any note until it's signed.
- Click the Picture-in-Picture icon in the video chat window.
- Resize or move the floating window anywhere on your screen.
- Switch to another browser tab and open your client's note.
📍 Note: Picture-in-Picture is available in Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. It isn't available in Apple Safari or Microsoft Edge.
Taking Notes in a Zoom Telehealth Session
The Quick Notes button and Client Hub aren't available inside the Zoom window, but you can use them alongside it.
- Start your Zoom session.
- Open Practice Better in a separate browser tab or window.

Create a new session Note.
- Or open your client's Client Hub, then click Quick Notes to write your note.
- Or open your client's Client Hub, then click Quick Notes to write your note.
- Click Save.
To keep Zoom visible while you write, use the Zoom Mini Window. Mini Window minimizes the Zoom video and keeps it on top of your other applications. You can move it around your screen or hide the video entirely. Learn more about Floating thumbnail window view in the Zoom Help Center.
Letting the AI Charting Assistant Generate Notes
🪄 The AI Charting Assistant creates notes for you as a result of recording your session. Record the session, and the AI Charting Assistant generates your note afterward.
