Set Default Journal Entry Types
You can set up default options for Journals created for new clients.
- Go to Settings > Portal Preferences.
- Under Journals, click the checkbox beside Auto-select journal entry types when creating new clients.
- Update the default entry types provided to new clients by default.
- Click Save Changes near the top-right.
Journal Preferences and Settings
From the Portal Preferences page, you can customize account-wide journal settings:
- Allow clients to view journal analysis: This option allows clients to view historical reports and analyze trends in their journal, including nutrient consumption, calories burned/consumed, sleep history, etc.
- Disable Nutrient Claims: Clients with access to the Food Journal may see nutrient claims (e.g. "high protein", "low carb") when searching foods in the food database. Claims will be only be displayed for clients with access to view nutrient details.
- Disable Barcode Scanning: Disable the option for clients to use the barcode scanner when logging foods from the mobile app. This will be useful if your clients reside outside of North America, as the scanner may not recognize foods outside of Canada and the United States.
- Auto-review integration entries: Enable these options to automatically mark entries from integrated applications as reviewed when data is synced from your clients' devices.
- Auto-select journals when creating new clients: Disable this option if you prefer not to give clients access to Journals when manually adding them to the portal.
Updating Journal Settings for Multiple Clients
You can update journal settings for clients who already have access to the client Journals. For example, you may want to hide nutrient details or disable sleep tracking for all clients or only those with specific tags.
How to Bulk Update Journal Settings
- Go to Settings & Preferences > Portal Preferences.
- Under the Journals section, click Bulk update.
- From the available picklists, select one or more settings you want to update.
- To leave a setting unchanged, select – No update – from the picklist.
- To leave a setting unchanged, select – No update – from the picklist.
- Click Update all to apply your changes.
📍 Please Note: Disabling Food entries will also remove the Nutrition tab from the client's portal.
Managing Journal Entry Notifications (Instant Alerts)
You can disable journal entry notifications (Instant Alerts) by updating your notification preferences.
- Go to Settings > Notification Preferences.
- Under the “Notify me when clients…” section, unselect the phone icon next to “Post or comment on journal entries”
- Click Save Changes near the top-right.
Limiting Journal Notifications to Specific Client Tags
If you want to receive Journal entry notifications only for clients with specific tags:
- Go to Settings > Notification Preferences.
- Click the button to the left of the phone icon to open the tag list popup.
- Select the tags for the clients you’d like to receive alerts for.
- Click Done to close the pop-up.
- Click Save Changes to update your notification preferences.
