Customize Your Bookings Page Button Label
Your Practice Better bookings page uses button labels to prompt clients to take action. By default, these buttons display "Book Now," but you can personalize this text to better match your practice's tone and guide clients toward booking with confidence.
To customize your button label:
- Go to My Practice > My Services and select Edit next to the service or package you'd like to customize.
- Scroll down to the Booking Options section and locate the Button Label field.
- Type your customized label text (for example, "Schedule Your Session" or "Reserve Your Spot") and click Save Changes near the top-right.
Once saved, your custom button label will appear on your bookings page and in any custom bookings pages you've created, giving your clients a clearer sense of what they're about to do.
You can set different button labels for each service or package, allowing you to tailor the language based on the type of offering.
💡 Pro tip: Keep your button label concise and action-oriented to encourage bookings.
Customize Your Confirmation Label
When clients complete a booking through your bookings page or widget, they'll see a confirmation message validating that their request has been successfully sent to you.
By default, this message reads "Request Sent!"—but you can customize it to reinforce your practice's messaging or provide additional guidance.
To customize your confirmation label:
- Go to My Practice > My Services and select Edit next to the service or package you'd like to customize.
- Scroll down to the Booking Options section and locate the Confirmation Label field.
- Type your customized confirmation text and select Save Changes.
📍 Please note: The confirmation label has a maximum character limit of 40 characters, so keep your message concise and impactful.
Your custom confirmation message will now display to clients immediately after they submit a booking request, providing immediate reassurance that you've received their information and their booking is on its way to you.
Managing Default Booking Page Fields
Practice Better provides default fields that appear on all your booking pages to collect essential contact information from clients. These fields create a streamlined booking experience while giving you flexibility over what information you collect. Understanding how to manage these fields helps you balance the information you need with creating a smooth booking process for your clients.
The default booking page fields appear in a dedicated step during the booking flow, separate from any custom booking forms you may have attached to your services. This base-level stage collects contact information — name, email address, and optionally phone number — along with optional referral and intake questions before clients select their appointment time.
Controlling Phone Number Requirements
By default, clients can book appointments by providing only their name and email address. However, you can make the phone number field required for video chat (telehealth) bookings.
📍 Note: For phone appointments, the phone number field is required by default.
To require phone numbers for virtual bookings:
- Go to My Schedule > Booking & Cancellation Settings.
- Under the Bookings Page tab, locate the Bookings Page Options section.
- Check the box next to Require a phone number when clients book online/video chat sessions.
- Click Save Changes in the top-right corner.
When this setting is enabled, clients must provide a phone number before they can proceed with booking a virtual session. If you prefer to keep phone numbers optional for virtual sessions, simply leave this checkbox unchecked — clients will still see the phone number field when booking virtual sessions, but won't be required to complete it.
Hiding Referral and Note Questions
Your booking page can include two optional questions: "How did you hear about [Your Practice Name]?" and "Note to practitioner / reason for booking." These questions can help you understand your referral sources and gather initial information about why clients are seeking your services.
If you prefer a more streamlined booking experience, you can hide both questions from all your booking pages.
📍 Please note: This setting controls both questions together. You can't hide one question while showing the other.
To hide referral and note questions:
- Go to My Schedule > Booking & Cancellation Settings.
- Under the Bookings Page tab, locate the Bookings Page Options section.
- Check the box next to Hide referral and note to practitioner questions.
- Click Save Changes in the top-right corner.
When this "hide referral and note to practitioner" setting is enabled, clients will only need to provide their name and email address (and phone number, if you've made it required) to complete the booking. Even with these questions displayed, clients can still successfully book appointments — the questions are supplementary and not required for the booking process.
When net-new clients book and respond to “How did you hear about us?”, this information can be found in their client record’s Basic Information > Referred by field.
The response from the “Note to practitioner” field can be found in the session details page in the practitioner portal.
Enabling Family Member Bookings
If you work with families or see multiple members of the same household, you can allow clients to book appointments on behalf of family members. This feature is particularly helpful for practitioners who see children, teens, or other dependents.
To enable family member bookings:
- Go to My Schedule > Booking & Cancellation Settings.
- Under the Bookings Page tab, locate the Bookings Page Options section.
- Check the box next to Allow clients to book on behalf of family members.
- Click Save Changes in the top-right corner.
When enabled, clients will see a checkbox labeled "I'm booking for a family member" on your booking page.
After checking this box, additional fields appear asking for the family member's first and last name.
When someone completes a booking for a family member, Practice Better may create a new family client record in your portal if one doesn't already exist, keeping all related family appointments organized under connected client profiles.

Understanding Where Your Practice Name Appears
The referral question on your booking page automatically displays as "How did you hear about [Your Practice Name]?" The practice name shown in this question is pulled directly from your Company Profile settings in Practice Better, ensuring consistency across your branding.
If you'd like to update how your practice name appears in this question, you'll need to update your Company Profile. The question text itself can't be customized beyond changing your practice name.
📍 Please note: All booking page field settings apply globally to every Practice Better-generated booking page, including booking widgets embedded on your website. You can't display different default fields for different services — these settings affect the baseline contact information collection step that appears after clients select their appointment time.
