Where The Writing Assistant Appears
The writing assistant is available in rich text editors across the platform, including:
- Service, package, and program descriptions
- Program module content
- Session notes
- Note templates
- Protocol templates and protocols
- Forms and disclaimer text fields
- Email signature
📍 Note: The writing assistant is available on desktop only. The writing assistant is not available in the Practice Better messenger, Broadcasts, or email notification templates.
Using The Writing Assistant
You don't need to configure anything. The writing assistant is on by default and ready to use wherever a rich text editor appears.
- Open any area of Practice Better that contains a rich text editor.
- To refine a specific section, highlight the text you want to improve. To apply the assistant to all text in the editor, leave the text unselected.
- Click the Improve writing button in the editor toolbar.
- Choose one of the available prompts from the menu.
- Review the AI-generated suggestion in the preview panel.
- Click the Paste to Draft button to use the newly-generated text as your source, and select a different prompt to refine your writing even more.
- Select Use suggestion to replace your text with the suggestion, or Cancel to return to your original content.
⚠️ Important: Selecting "Use suggestion" permanently replaces your original text. This action cannot be undone. Review the suggestion carefully before applying it.
Available Prompts
The writing assistant offers 5 prompts to refine your text:
- Correct spelling & grammar: Fix typos and grammatical errors.
- Make more professional: Adjust tone for a formal, clinical, or business context.
- Make more friendly: Soften the tone for a warmer, more conversational feel.
- Shorten: Condense your text while preserving the key message.
- Add detail: Expand your text with additional context or explanation.
📍 Note: Custom prompts are not available. Only the prompts listed above can be selected.
Character Limit
The writing assistant supports up to 2,000 characters per request. If your selected text exceeds this limit, trim your selection before applying a prompt.
Privacy and Your Data
The writing assistant only processes the text present in the rich text editor at the time of the request. It does not have access to other client records, profile information, or data outside the editor. If your notes or protocols contain protected health information (PHI), this is handled in accordance with Practice Better's regulatory compliance agreements.
